Win Hill
I took a trip up Win Hill to photograph the last of the heather before it disappears for another year. It’s an extremely steep hike up from Yorkshire Bridge, but well worth it at the top.
The forecast had predicted changeable weather, my absolute favourite conditions for landscape photography. For once the weather was spot on and I had rainbows, sunshine, rain and even a bit of hail at one point! This image was taken just after a heavy shower when the sun managed to peek through a tiny gap in the dark stormy clouds.
About Win Hill:
At 462 m (1,516 ft) Win Hill offers stunning panoramic views over the Peak District. At the peak of the hill stands Win Hill Pike, locally known as the Pimple. At 462m Win Hill is only a few metres short of qualifying as a Marilyn, a pun on the designation Munro, which is used for a Scottish mountain with a height of more than 3,000 feet.
