About the White-eared Bulbul:
The white-eared bulbul (Pycnonotus leucotis), is a member of the bulbul family which includes 137 different species. They have grey bodies, jet black heads and crests with distinctive white patch over their ear coverts; earning them their name. They are found throughout south-western Asia, ranging from India to the Arabian peninsula. In Iraq many people keep them as pets where they are regarded as one of the most intelligent birds on the planet. These bulbuls are often confused with the similarly named white-cheeked bulbul (Pycnonotus leucogeny); a larger bird with a pronounced crest, found only in the Himalayas.
