About the Purple Swamphen:
The Grey-headed swamphen (Porphyrio poliocephalus) is a species of swamphen occurring from the Middle East and the Indian subcontinent to parts of China and Southern Asia. It is part of the superspecies known as purple swamphens, where each of its six variations are designated as full species. Male swamphens have an elaborate courtship display, where they collect water weeds in his bill and bowing to the female with loud chuckles.
