Mealt Falls and Kilt Rock, Isle of Skye
Mealt Falls, an impressive waterfall that cascades directly off the sea cliffs and plunges into the Sound of Raasay below. Sometimes, when the wind is particularly fierce, the water is blown back on itself and back over the cliff tops.
About Mealt Falls
Mealt Falls is an impressive 55m tall waterfall on the Isle of Skye. Here a powerful stream of water plunges straight off a cliff face down into the turquoise waters of the Sound of Raasay. One of the most easily accessible locations on the Isle of Skye, Mealt Falls takes its name from the nearby freshwater lake called Loch Mealt. Further along the sea cliffs stands the nearby 90m tall Kilt Rock, named after its resemblance to a Scottish Kilt.
