Ladybower Reservoir
Morning sunshine filtering through the haze at Ladybower Reservoir in the Peak District National Park.
After watching a very disappointing sunrise from Mam Tor, I headed back via Ladybower Reservoir and as I was setting up the sun finally broke through and created some nice atmosphere through the haze. To top if off there was virtually no breeze so I got some great reflections, I don’t think I’ve ever seen the water so still!
Ladybower Reservoir is the lowest of three reservoirs in the Upper Derwent Valley in the Derbyshire Peak District National Park. The Viaduct, part of the A57 route, takes its name from Ashopton, which was a small village in Derbyshire in the early 1940s. The village along with neighbouring Derwent, was submerged to create Ladybower Reservoir as we know it now.
