More About the Jackdaw
The jackdaw (Coloeus monedula), also known as the Eurasian jackdaw or western jackdaw, is a medium sized passerine bird in the crow family, Corvidae. Jackdaws are widespread across their range which includes Europe, Asia and North Africa, where they are typically resident throughout the year.
Jackdaws are gregarious and are often found in small to medium sized groups with a complex hierarchy. Like many of the birds in the family Corvidae they are highly intelligent birds, able to solve complex problems and have even been observed using tools. These distinctive birds have a black and grey plumage with a striking greyish blue eye.
