About Emerald Damselflies:

The emerald damselfly (Lestes sponsa) is the most common Damselfly species found in the UK. These bright bluey-green damselflies are the last species to emerge, seen on the wing from June to September.

They can be found resting on the dense vegetation surrounding ponds, lakes and canals, where they hunt for prey on the wing. Unlike other damselflies, they rest with their wings half-open when perched, rather than fully closed along the length of their body like other damselflies.
