Chatsworth Estate

Chatsworth Estate. Classic view of Chatsworth House reflected in the River Derwent using an old log as foreground. The rising sun created a temperature inversion trapping the wood smoke in the valley creating this beautiful misty effect. Peak District National Park.

About the Chatsworth Estate:

Standing on the bank of the River Derwent, the original Tudor mansion was built on the 1,000 acre estate in the mid 1500s by Sir William Cavendish and his wife Bess of Hardwick. Ownership of the beautiful Chatsworth Estate has since been handed down through 16 generations of the Cavendish family. Now open to the public it is one of the most iconic and widely loved of all our stately homes.
