Dark Peak
The Dark Peak covers the largest portion of the Peak District National Park. This area is much wilder than the rolling grassy hills of the White Peak and is home to the Peak District’s only two mountains. Here distinctive gritstone edges and tors scar the moorland plateau, overlooking heather moorland, ancient woodland and acidic bogs. During the Summer the dull brown winter landscape is transformed into a sea of vivid purple heather and bobbing cotton grass.
