More about my Peak District Photography Workshops:

As an award-winning professional photographer with extensive local knowledge, I run all of my photography workshops personally. My aim is simple; to inspire and encourage you to take your photography to the next level whilst taking in some of the finest scenery the UK has to offer.

I have been exploring the edges, dales and bleak moorlands of the Peak District National Park my entire life. Over the years I have built up an in depth local knowledge of the national park, from photographing both iconic and little known Peak District locations to the huge variety of wildlife that calls the park home. My Peak District photography workshops give me the opportunity to share my passion for this very special place with you.

The Peak District National Park boasts some of the finest views the UK has to offer. From rolling hills to jagged outcrops, it has it all. The Peak District covers an area of 555 sq miles and was the first of Britain’s 15 national parks, founded in 1951. Surrounded by several major cities, it’s one of the most popular and accessible national parks in the world, and for good reason.

My landscape workshops will show you the very best locations the Peak District has to offer, from the iconic viewpoints to the hidden gems. You will learn how to compose and capture a portfolio of stunning images that you can really be proud of.

“Francis took me on a workshop in Hope Valley just outside Sheffield. It was perfect from start to finish. Not only is he fully knowledgeable in his craft, he is great to work with. After 5 minutes I felt I had known him for years. He took me to fantastic locations and give me instruction on how to take wonderful images with the prevailing conditions. Any question was answered quickly and clearly and at my level. I also had some Post Processing instruction with him which I highly recommend. Francis gave me a practical lesson on how to bring the best out of my images. We used one of his images and then worked on several of mine that I had taken earlier. My wife, my biggest critic, has now said my photos are now longer flat and boring but they pop out at you. That’s the best praise I could ask for. I look forward to having another workshop with Francis.”     – Matthew.

Peak District Photography Workshops – Wildlife

Alongside the amazing landscapes, the varied habitat of the Peak District boasts some very unique wildlife opportunities.

Two examples are the water vole and mountain hare. Despite the massive nationwide decline of the water vole, the Peak District still has some flourishing water vole populations which offers a great opportunity to photograph this well loved little animal. The native mountain hare can also only be seen outside of Scotland in the Peak District National Park, providing a very accessible way to see this extremely rare and shy mammal.

My Peak District wildlife photography workshops will teach you the technical skills and fieldcraft needed to get close to wildlife and capture incredible images.

I chose to book a days tuition with Francis for photographing wildlife. Having done a lot of landscape photography I wanted to learn how to get the best images for wildlife. One thing I struggled with was image sharpness. Francis began the day by running me through the correct settings to use for my camera, along with how and when to adjust these settings as required. Francis’ knowledge on how to approach the wildlife and get closer without making it feel uncomfortable was excellent. The fieldcraft skills he can teach you are so important in this area of photography. Throughout the day we had the opportunity to photograph a number of different species at different locations. I highly recommend spending a day with him as it really will help your own photography!”     Giles.
