Three Shires Head

Three Shires Head is a point on Axe Edge Moor where three counties Cheshire, Derbyshire and Staffordshire meet. It’s actually possible to stand with one limb in each county! To top it off there’s some stunning scenery and a couple of old packhorse bridges.

Just for fun I’ve included the shot from the heart wrenching moment my tripod with camera fell over and smashed on the rocks! A very worrying hour or two, but I managed to pull out the broken glass with pliers and thankfully it was just my ND and UV filters that smashed, with a couple of big scratches on the lens and camera body. I’m definitely sold on the UV as opposed to the no UV argument now as it definitely saved my bacon!

A devastating moment. You can still partially see the falls at the edges of the frame.
