The Fairy Glen, Uig II

A moody image taken at the wonderful fairy glen near Uig. This spiral of rocks made a great foreground looking across to this distinctive tower of rock known locally as Castle Ewan.

The Fairy Glen

High above Uig, the fairy glen sits on the west side of the Trotternish ridge next to to the village of Balnacnoc. The small road to the glen winds through rounded grassy hills and lochans, reminiscent of the Quirang in miniature. A natural landslip, the glen was in fact created in the same way as Quirang. Despite there being no known legends about the Fairy Glen, Skye itself has a long history involving Fairy’s, the nearby Dunvegan Castle even has a fairy as their flag.
