Chital Deer in Burnt forest – About Chital Deer:
Chital (Cervus axis) are a species of axis deer native to the Indian subcontinent belonging to the family Cervidae. They are also commonly known as spotted deer and axis deer. They live in open grasslands and dense forests in India and Sri Lanka, often in large herds of 100 or more. Chital are medium sized deer standing 90–95 cm at the shoulder and weighing 25-75kg. Their distinctive spotty coat is reddish brown with white spots. Chital are sexually dimorphic with the males being much larger than females, and the branched antlers are present only on males.
