Bamford Edge is deemed to have some of the best views in the Peak District National Park, and when you’re standing on Great Tor looking out, it’s not hard to see why. There are fantastic panoramic views in all directions; facing south west you can see the Hope Valley, north west you can see past Ashopton Bridge to the Derwent Valley, and looking west you can see Win Hill, and Mam Tor.
I arrived with plenty of time to spare as this was a location I had not previously visited, and I wanted to have time to have an explore and try out some different compositions before the light reached its best. After a good nosy around the rocky edge and moorland behind, I started off shooting facing the Hope Valley, looking back along Bamford Edge in order to show the afternoon light on the rocks and the dappled sunlight in the valley below.

Next I turned towards the reservoirs, and as it was an extremely windy day I first used my 10 stop ND (neutral density) filter to show the motion of the clouds across the sky.

This is my favourite image from the trip, showing the view along Bamford edge to the reservoirs, with warm evening light hitting the slopes of Win Hill and the hillsides beyond.
After shooting the reservoirs I turned west in order to include the setting sun in my shot.
