Panna Meena ka Kund is a square shaped 16th century stepwell with layered steps on all four sides and a large room; used for religious ceremonies. 

Stepwells are found throughout India by various regional names. In Gujurati, they are called Vavs, in Rajasthan they are known as Kunds and in North India they are known as Baolis. India is home to 2000 ancient stepwells, Approximately 100 of which can be seen in Rajasthan.
