Bonding Shags
Tender moment between a pair of shags as they strengthen their bond. Nothumberland, UK.
During the summertime around 150,000 breeding pairs of seabirds flock to the Farne Islands to nest. With such huge numbers crammed onto these tiny islands they are undoubtedly one of the best places in the UK to get close to sea birds.
About Shags:
Often confused with the much larger Cormorants, the shag has emerald green eyes and dark green glossy plumage with a distinctive crest on the front of their heads. During the breeding season they flock to coastal sites where they gather in vast numbers.
