Elgol
Elgol is without a doubt one of the most dramatic and stunning locations on Skye. The rocky beach looks straight out into the heart of the Cuillin Mountains. Sadly the sunset was non existent, but the dark moody clouds in between rain showers suited the location perfectly. The lack of light also helped to increase the shutter speeds, enabling the misty water effect seen here.
Elgol
Elgol is located at the end of the long and winding B8083 single track road, south west from Broadford. The route here passes the iconic ruin of Cill Chriosd(Christ’s Church) which is well worth stopping at. Cill Chriosd was the only parish church here until 1840, when it was replaced by a new church in Broadford. Evenetually after a sharp dip into a village you will arrive in the rocky bay with incredible views towards the Cuillin, truly a photographers paradise. From Elgol it is also possible to take a boat trip right to the heart of the Cuillin without the long and arduous climb over the Cuillin ridge.
