Solomon’s Temple Storm

Over the summer months there was some fantastic stormy evenings. This image was taken on a particularly spectacular evening at Solomon’s Temple above Buxton. Despite the intermittent showers and non existent sunset there was a couple of spells of stunning light.

About Solomon’s Temple

Solomon’s Temple, also known as Grinlow Tower, is a 20-foot-high stone tower built on top of a Bronze Age barrow. Whilst there has been a structure of some kind on the top of the hill for 150 years, the current ‘temple’ was built to ‘afford occupation to the unemployed of Buxton’ and was completed in 1896. Inside the tower there is a spiral staircase to the open top which offers stunning views over Buxton and the surrounding Peak District.
